About Us

Meet the Photographers

Hello and welcome to our online store and photo gallery!

Who are we and why are we Chasing Horses?

FIRST: If you are looking for our advocacy page, please visit us at www.chwha.org.

We are Chris & Gary Kman.  We moved to Southwestern North Dakota in the spring of 2016.  We immediately fell in love with the beauty of Theodore Roosevelt National Park (TRNP) and the wild life that called this beautiful place home.  Yes, specifically the wild horses that live here.

While Chris was trying to explain to her mom why we frequent the park so much, her mom would ask, "Is that all you guys do there in North Dakota?  Chase horses?"  Little did we know then that our name was being born. We have spent the last 2 years learning about and documenting the horses in this herd.  For as much as we have learned in that time, we still feel like there is so much more for us to learn.

As you can see, we chase a lot more than horses - some times deer, elk, all types of birds - we can guarantee that you will never catch us chasing the bison - but we have felt at times that they were chasing us!

Whether you are viewing this page right here in North Dakota, or some other far away place and TRNP is on your bucket list, our Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/chasinghorsesnd) and Instagram (@chasinghorsesnd) pages are the easiest ways to keep up with our photos and stories of the wild horses living in TRNP.

Make sure you sign up for our e-mail list!  You will be sure to be the first to know when we introduce new products to this site AND stay informed of special deals, products and discounts offered only to our e-mail subscribers.

While you are shopping and browsing through our site, if you have a question, just hit that "message us" button on the top right of your screen.  It will start a conversation with us via Facebook Messenger.

We are asked frequently what kind of camera we are using - we use a Canon camera and generally shoot with a EF 100-400 lens.  So we clear - we are by no means physically chasing the horses (we are way too old and out of shape for that!); we chase them through the lens that they allow us to capture really just a snapshot of their lives with.

Thank you again for your support and we hope you enjoy your time here with us - Chasing Horses!
